One of the new features that Call of Duty: Elite will give Modern Warfare 3 is the ability to change your custom loadouts outside of the game, Activision has revealed.
Showing the most recent build of Call of Duty: Elite to VideoGamer.com at a behind closed doors E3 presentation today, Activision confirmed that Elite – Call of Duty’s new online portal launching in beta form this summer and officially with Modern Warfare 3 on November 8 – will allow users to modify their custom loadouts from either the website (coded in shiny modern HTML5) or the iPhone and Android applications, and then see them reflected in Modern Warfare 3 itself the next time they start the game.
But what other Modern Warfare 3 features was Activision showing off for Call of Duty: Elite?
One new feature for Modern Warfare 3 is that the game will be able to recommend players specific weapons on a map-by-map basis based on sifting through data automatically collected when playing the game online.
Modern Warfare 3 will also show any enlisted Elite groups directly in the game itself, hopefully providing more substance for players to communicate in ways that aren’t simply insult trading and singing into their mic.
In case you’ve forgotten what all that means, Call of Duty: Elite users will be able to join and create up to 64 groups at any one time, each with their own respective leaderboards.
Activision is also promising more Elite features specific to Modern Warfare 3, which will be announced later in the year.
Elite was officially announced at the end of last month, and VideoGamer.com was there to poke under the hood and detail its various features.
The service has been criticised by many – including EA CEO John Riccitiello during EA’s 2011 E3 conference – for its premium subscription option, which provides additional functions on top of the basic suite of features such as access to all DLC and a Call of Duty TV series for subscribers.
