Managing your video game installations on your consoles has become an important yet frustrating task in recent years. The file sizes on these experiences have ballooned to gigantic proportions compared to games in the past and there just simply isn’t always enough room on your hard drive to fit everything.

MLB The Show games are among those games that have had their file sizes grow dramatically over the past decade. With so many players and stadiums to account for, along with loads of other details and new features, it’s not a surprise to see these games become so large.

Here is a breakdown on how big the download size is on each platform for MLB The Show 23.

How Many GBs is MLB The Show 23?

As stated above, MLB The Show has followed the trend of larger video game installation sizes lately, but it’s not nearly as bad as some other games like Call of Duty. At launch, here are the file size breakdowns for MLB The Show 23 on each platform:

  • Nintendo Switch – 20.5 GB
  • PlayStation 4 – unknown as of this writing, likely around 40 GB
  • PlayStation 5 – 66.36 GB
  • Xbox One – 44.19 GB
  • Xbox Series X – 81 GB

As you can see, the Xbox Series X MLB The Show 23 version has the largest day one install at over 80 GB, with the PS5 being about 15 GB smaller. From what we have seen, the game runs about the same on both platforms, it would just appear that maybe Sony San Diego was able to cut it down a little more on their home platform.

As for the Nintendo Switch, as you can expect with every game on that platform, the graphical fidelity will be drastically cut down from the other versions. The trade-off is that you are getting a handheld version you can take with you.

As time goes on, the file sizes might expand a bit with updates, but considering that there won’t be any large DLC packs, you won’t have to worry about installing too much more on your console.
