For all intents and purposes, Rockstar’s PS3 exclusive Agent appears to be dead in the water – but the Grand Theft Auto maker isn’t ready to give up the name.

Siliconera spotted that Rockstar has renewed two trademarks relating to the Agent name and its logo, described as “the shape of a handgun comprising the internal section of the letter ‘G'”.

It’s likely Rockstar has renewed the trademarks in order to protect them from vultures looking to gain from their expiration, rather than follow through on any plans to launch a game.

Agent was announced at E3 2009, but Rockstar has never officially released any footage or screens of the game.

Should Agent actually be released, the chances of it coming to PS3 are diminishing by with each passing day. Post-GTA 5, it’s expected that Rockstar will move onto Xbox One and PS4.
