Our time in Penacony has come to an end, and we’re finally able to pull for Firefly and Jade when the Honkai Star Rail 2.3 release date rolls around. HoYoverse has confirmed the launch for June during a live stream covering all the new content for us. Let’s look at the HSR 2.3 release date and what’s coming.
When will Honkai Star Rail 2.3 be released?
The Honkai Star Rail 2.3 release date is set for Wednesday, June 19, 2024. This launch date was confirmed by HoYoverse in a press release, alongside the “Farewell, Penacony” Special Program livestream. This will mark the end of the story in Penacony we’ve been playing since version 2.0.
What are Honkai Star Rail 2.3 Banners?
The confirmed characters for Honkai Star Rail 2.3 are Firefly and Jade. These two characters are five-star units and will feature on their own Banners. Firefly’s banner will feature during the first phase of 2.3, alongside a re-run of Ruan Mei. The second phase banner will feature Jade and a re-run for Argenti.

We all know and love Firefly from the Penacony story, and we finally get to see more of her as a playable character when 2.3 launches. Firefly is a member of the Stellaron Hunters, who fights wearing the SAM armour. As a Destruction character, Firefly is going to be a good all-rounder character, able to dish out and take damage in equal measure. SAM’s combat is geared around using her HP to launch attacks, but she gets her own HP back and restores a lot of her Ultimate energy.
Jade
- Erudition, Quantum
- 5-Star
- Available during the second phase Banner
Jade is something of an enigma at the moment, but we now know she is a Quantum Erudition character. This means she specialises in AoE attacks, making her great for dealing with Pure Fiction and other encounters. In combat, she uses her skill to link herself to an ally, and she will then perform follow-up attacks after she gets enough charges.
Honkai Star Rail 2.3 new content
As per a press release from HoYoverse, Honkai Star Rail is getting a new Simulated Universe mode in 2.3 called Divergent Universe. Alongside this, we will visit a new area in Penacony called the Radiant Feldspar, which will tie up the end of the Pencony story in the new Trailblaze Mission. 2.3 will also add new Relics and Planar Ornaments, most likely best-in-slot for Firefly and Jade.
Divergent Universe
There isn’t a ton of information about the Divergent Universe mode, but we know that it will feature some gameplay changes. For starters, Divergent Universe will feature the “Arithmetic Mapping” function, which removes character download limitations during a run. Furthermore, if you are below the recommended Equilibrium Level, your level will be raised to meet the cap.
Also added in this will be the Equation feature, which incentiveses you to mix and match your buffs from two different Paths. Doing so can now grant various combat abilities once the required amount is achieved. The best addition is that you can now choose to restart any fight that isn’t going your way. Previously, you had to force quit out of the game to replay a boss battle, but HoYoverse has now added this in as a restart function.
