Ubisoft has today announced that some of the leading actors from the Beowulf film lend their voice and likeness to the Beowulf video game. Confirmed for the game are Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins, Ray Winstone, Brendan Gleeson and Sebastien Roche.

King Hrothgar is played by Anthony Hopkins, Beowulf by Ray Winstone, Wiglaf by Brendan Gleeson and Wulfgar by Sebastien Roche. Ubisoft notes that each role has been greatly expanded and adapted for the video game, with performances only found in the game.

This is the first time I’ve worked on a video game, and I must say it was one of the hardest working days of my career,” confessed Ray Winstone. “But it was vital to capturing the power of the film and translating that into a great gaming experience. Beowulf is a brutal character, a Dark Age-gangster with both hero and monster in him … as a player, I can identify with the monster slayer.

Beowulf is a bloody action game scheduled for release in November for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and PSP. Look out for a hands-on preview and video interview with the game’s scriptwriter next week.
