There was a time when cartoons were all about robots in disguise, human like cats from Thunderar and even a body builder with a sword who rode around on a big cat. Well, today kids have Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, a cartoon about two girls, Ami and Yumi, who together form the rock band Puffy AmiYumi. Essentially they rock hard and fight off crazed fans and other bands.

The cartoon has been so popular that a game for the Nintendo DS is now in development. Said to be a “Rock ‘n’ Roll Brawler” the game is aimed towards 6-11 year olds and is expected in quarter one 2006 from D3Publisher of America, Inc. Players must call upon the powers of Rock ‘n’ Roll to defeat enemies. The game action will be displayed on the top screen while a guitar is used on the touch screen to control the game. There’ll also be a 2-player wireless cooperative mode, which I assume means one player takes control on Ami and the other Yumi.
