Intriguing news for Devil May Cry fans: rumour suggests Heavenly Sword developer Ninja Theory has been “tapped” for the next game in the popular action series.

Since Devil May Cry 4 was released in early 2008, we haven’t heard a peep out of the gun-toting Dante and his hack and slash chums.

But that quiet has been shattered today with the exciting rumour that Ninja Theory may end up working on a follow-up.

According to US mag Game Informer, as reported by thesilentchief.com, “Enslaved isn’t the only game Ninja Theory is working on – we’ve heard that the Cambridge, England developer is being tapped for the next Devil May Cry”.

It adds: “It is not totally unexpected, however; Capcom has said that although it is shying away from Western developer for new IP, it would continue to utilize them for known franchises, which DMC certainly is.”

When contacted by VideoGamer.com, Capcom gave us the standard: “We don’t comment on rumours and speculation.”
