Rock Band isn’t in stores yet, but this hasn’t stopped Harmonix and MTV Games from revealing post launch plans for downloadable content. Already revealed has been master recordings from Metallica and The Who, and rock fans can now add Grateful Dead to the list.

A new deal will see the iconic group making 18 master recordings from its diverse catalogue to be released as downloadable game levels when the game is released across North America this holiday. Among the 18 songs will be “Truckin’,” “Uncle John’s Band,” “Touch of Grey,” “Sugar Magnolia,” and “Casey Jones.”

Rock Band is scheduled to ship for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday in the US, with the game’s European release expected early in 2008.
