The level cap in Halo: Reach is expected to be raised in early November, Bungie has said.

Exactly when the raise happens is in the hands of the players, though. Bungie has promised to unshackle the cap once players reach a collective 117 million daily and weekly challenges – progress is displayed on Bungie.net.

“Don’t freak out,” explained Bungie in the latest weekly update. “Currently, our online engineers project that you’re on pace to hit that milestone sometime in November. I’d wager to guess that you’ll hit it early in the month, but hey, what do I know?”

Once the challenge is met, Bungie says it will blow the lid off the level cap, with players able to access new ranks and armour inside The Armory.

This is a welcome move by Bungie, which cleverly gets players putting in more hours to complete each challenge in order to get the reward they crave. We’re all puppets, dancing to Bungie’s tune.
