Microsoft has released the first trailer for Halo: Nightfall, the upcoming live-action TV series produced by Alien director Ridley Scott. If you’re planning on playing Halo 5: Guardians, you’ll probably want to take a look.

Set between the events of Halo 4 and Halo 5: Guardians, Halo: Nightfall tells the tale of ‘legendary manhunter’ Jameson Locke (played by Mike Colter) and his crew as they get caught in a terrorist attack on the distant colony world of Sedra.

“Led by Locke, the Office of Naval Intelligence (ONI) agents are forced to coordinate with a Sedran commander with a remarkable history and deep-rooted mistrust of ONI,” says Microsoft. “As the plot unravels, they’re drawn to an ancient, hellish artifact where they’re forced to fight for their survival, question everything, and ultimately choose between their loyalties and their lives.”

Locke will also play a “major role” in Halo 5: Guardians, which is due for release exclusively on Xbox One in autumn 2015.

Halo: Nightfall will be one of the few live-action TV shows created by Microsoft’s soon-to-be-defunct Xbox Entertainment Studios, after the decision was made to abandon plans for original Xbox programming. The studio also has a documentary based on the crash of Atari in production.

Halo: Nightfall will be included in this November’s Halo: The Master Chief Collection and will be available digitally over Xbox Live.
