Halo 5’s Forge mode is heading to Windows 10 PC on September 8, Microsoft has announced.

The map-making software will be available to download for free via the Microsoft Store and lets players create new levels, maps “and experiences” that can be played across both PC and Xbox One.

The PC version includes support for 4K resolution and mouse and keyboard controls, plus the option to play custom matches with up to 16 people. Levels previously created on Xbox One can also be downloaded into the PC version.

“Halo 5: Forge opens the door to new possibilities in Halo 5: Guardians and beyond,” said Microsoft. “We can’t wait to see what the community will build with the added power of Halo 5: Forge on Windows 10 PC.”

As for Halo 5 itself, Microsoft said earlier this summer that it had no plans to port the game to PC.
