According to the latest sales data from Media Create for the week ending September 30, Halo 3 was the top selling video game with 59,000 units sold. The final chapter in the Halo trilogy fought off competition from Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core and Tamagotchi DS.

Although impressive and no doubt a coo for Microsoft that the game made it to No.1, 59,000 units in no way makes the game a success. Last week 59,000 units would have placed the game at No.5 and in the week previous Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core sold 487,000 units in its first week.

In the UK the game shifted just shy of 500,000 in its first week and became the second fastest selling video game in UK history.
