Halo 3 players can now download three additional multiplayer maps, with the release of the Heroic Map Pack. The first DLC for the five million selling sequel will cost you 800 Microsoft Points today, but will be offered free of charge in spring 2008.
The included maps are Standoff, a symmetrical valley ideal for mid-sized objective and Slayer game types; Rat’s Nest, home to many labyrinthine passages which are strongly influenced by the Halo 3 campaign mode; and Foundry, described as the ultimate Forge map because of its large open warehouse environment.
Once you’ve got hold of the new maps you’re also able to download a free title update which will integrate the three new battlefields into the multiplayer playlists. Players without the new maps can opt to include them in their playlists, but will be forced to sit out during rounds in which they feature.
