Nick Williams, an analyst for GamerMetrics, predicts that Halo 3 will sell over four million units in the US alone by the end of October and drive increased Xbox 360 console sales.
“More importantly for Microsoft, Halo 3 will drive significant incremental Xbox 360 hardware sales during the upcoming holiday season, taking the focus away from the Wii and PlayStation 3,” says Williams.
Williams also believes the massively popular multiplayer element of the Halo franchise will have a negative impact on the rest of the video game industry: “Gamers will have little free time to play other titles during the early holiday months, meaning less attention given to competing Xbox 360 software releases.“
Further more, Williams estimates that Halo 3 will break into the top ten best-selling video game list of all time – a list currently headed by Super Mario Bros. 3 for the NES with sales of 18 million units.
