In a move sure to infuriate PC owners, Microsoft is to release the multi-million selling Halo 2 on the PC platform, but the title will only play on systems running the company’s Windows Vista OS. While Halo was ported to the PC by Gearbox Software, Halo 2 is being handled by a Microsoft Game Studios team in partnership with Bungie.
Details on the port haven’t been released, but it’ll include the same single-player campaign as the 7.3 million selling Xbox version, plus all the multiplayer maps, including those released as downloads via Xbox Live. Exclusive to the Windows Vista port is the ability to build original multiplayer maps. Nothing new for a PC game, but it is something that wasn’t possible in the Xbox game.
No release date has been announced, but we’ll bring you more news as further information on the port is released.
