The Half-Life 2 “Call for Communication” group saw 10,000 players boot up their copies of Valve’s seminal FPS this weekend as part of an organised request for information.

The group’s mission was to play Half-Life 2 on Saturday 4 February between 9 and 9:30 GMT as an organised request to kindly ask Valve to release information on the status of Half-Life 3.

Half-Life 2 had the 11th most concurrent users of any game on Steam during the period.

Over 50,000 people had registered for the Steam group, however, which means a fair few of those people decided not to take part on the day. That’s about the same attendance ratio of your average Facebook event, then.

“I am personally impressed with what we’ve achieved today. We’re nowhere near done – in fact, we are currently in the process of planning new activities; this was only our first attempt, and, in my eyes, was a success for everyone,” said the group’s announcements page.
