The Hades 2 voice actor cast is phenomenal, and while much of the cast would be widely recognised amongst the games industry, there’s a surprising appearance from a beloved Hollywood actor. Recently featuring in breakout Netflix series Sex Education, the actor has also starred in films such as Hugo and Ender’s Game.

For the sake of spoilers I won’t be listing the actors name nor the character they’ve been cast as until further down below in the article, so this is your opportunity to click onto another article before we tell you.

Hades 2 features a well-known Hollywood actor

That’s it for the spoiler warning, so you’ll be glad to hear that Asa Butterfield is featuring in Hades 2. Unless you’ve been playing the game non-stop, you’ve probably not got this far in the game yet, but Icarus is voiced by the Islington-born actor.

While Amelia Tyler, the legendary voice actor behind Baldur’s Gate 3’s narrator, is another big-name in the Hades 2 voice actor cast, it’s not just games industry talent here. With Butterfield taking up the reigns as the son of Daedalus, it’s another great example of the cross-industry creativity that games like Hades enable.

For the sake of spoilers–and also the fact I’ve not yet got that far in the game either–I won’t be telling you the circumstances of meeting Icarus in-game. I’m sure it’s cool, though.

I can, instead, tell you about the story behind the myth of Icarus. Eager to escape the wrath of King Minos, Icarus’ father crafted a pair of waxen feather wings. He paired this with a warning not to fly too close to the water, which would affect the feathers, nor too close to the sun, which would melt the wax. It was too little too late for Icarus, who flew too close to the sun (hence the famous saying) and died.

I have no idea if any of that happens in Hades 2, so you’re going to just have to play through it and find out. What I can tell you is that whatever appearance the character has in-game, it’s probably really awesome.
