Free-to-play battle royale title H1Z1 is getting buffed later this month with a massive 50-player free-for-all Deathmatch mode, developer Daybreak Games has announced.

The new mode will be rolled out as part of the Beyond Royale expansion, and revolves around 15-minute matches with instant respawns and a kill target of 25. Players arrive in a pretty confined space, so expect the brown stuff to hit the fan pretty sharpish.

Speaking with Eurogamer, H1Z1 producer Paul Matthys commented, 'Broadly speaking, we see FFA as our first opportunity this season to experiment with fun, fast-paced game modes that offer our players new gameplay types outside the traditional core battle royale modes H1Z1 is known for.'

Season 3 of H1Z1 also offers up ranked leaderboards, a new map, a 100 tier Battle Pass, and a Training Grounds to brush up on your combat skills. See the trailer below for more details.
