The single-player campaign for CD Projekt Red's Gwent: The Witcher Card Game is breaking away from the core experience, and will instead be made available as a separate product.

As a result of the move, the campaign has now binned the Gwent title and has been renamed Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales. It'll now take the form of a full, story-driven RPG packing in around 30 hours of gameplay, although its action are still determined by Gwent matches.

CD Projekt Red confirmed the news during its H1 2018 financial results conference, and comes on the back of multiple delays for the Gwent project. Thronebreaker was initially set to launch as part and parcel of The Witcher Card Game, which was originally set to release in late 2017.

The studio announced in November last year that Thronebreaker, then still part of Gwent, had been delayed to 2018.

There's still currently no release date set for Thronebreaker: The Witcher Tales, though it's set to launch for PlayStation 4, PC, and Xbox One platforms.
