GameDaily.biz reports that development of the next Guitar Hero title will not be handled by series veteran Harmonix, but long-time Tony Hawk developer Neversoft.

Nothing has been officially confirmed – Neversoft, RedOctane and Activision refusing to comment on rumours – but GameDaily points towards Neversoft’s website, which features heavy promotion of Guitar Hero.

The website features a large graphic split down the middle, one half advertising jobs working on Guitar Hero and the other jobs on a Tony Hawk game. Clicking through doesn’t reveal any further info, but a GameDaily source indicates that Neversoft is currently looking to fill positions for Guitar Hero III.

Guitar Hero II was the fifth best selling game of 2006 in the US, with over 1.3 million units sold – 805,000 in December. Activision announced that it had acquired publisher RedOctane in May 2006, but original Guitar Hero developer Harmonix is now owned by MTV Networks.
