It’s been all but confirmed already, but now it’s official – Guitar Hero II is preparing to rock on the Xbox 360. The game will take advantage of Xbox Live, with downloadable content something RedOctane is keen to push.
“With its large integrated hard drive, Xbox 360 provides an incredible platform for facilitating downloadable content,” said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing, RedOctane. “We believe there is no better title to feature micro-transactions than a music game like Guitar Hero II, where the content is the basis of your experience. The relationship with the Xbox Live Marketplace creates endless possibilities for exclusive content.“
The Xbox 360 is also getting its own guitar controller, which is going by the name X-Plorer and will be on show at X06. There’s no word yet on game modes, and something we’ll all be waiting for is online play, or at the very lease some online leaderboards.
Guitar Hero II is scheduled for release on PlayStation 2 in November. The Xbox 360 version is currently without a release date, but we assume it won’t be far off.
