Guitar Hero Live and DJ Hero studio FreeStyle Games has been acquired by Ubisoft and will operate under the new name of Ubisoft Leamington.

Newly appointed Ubisoft Reflections managing director Richard Blenkinsop will also oversee Ubisoft Leamington.

“The studio will be renamed Ubisoft Leamington and will work in close collaboration with Reflections and Ubisoft’s other International studios to develop AAA games,” said Ubisoft.

“We’re thrilled to have their expertise within the group, and the team at Reflections are looking forward to creating great things together!” added Blenkinsop.

Ubisoft says it will reveal what the new studio is working on in the coming months.

FreeStyle Games was acquired by Activision back in 2008, but last year suffered layoffs following “lower than expected” sales of Guitar Hero Live.
