Principal photography has begun at Pinewood Studios in Atlanta, Georgia, on Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Marvel Studios has announced.
The sequel is written and directed by James Gunn, and sees the return of the original Guardians Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as the voice of Groot, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket. Also returning are Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula and Sean Gunn as Kraglin.
Marvel also confirmed new cast members Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Chris Sullivan and Kurt Russell, who is expected to play Peter Quill’s father.
The original movie earned over $770 at the worldwide box office. Guardians 2 will open May 5, 2017.
