10 Chambers Collective would leap at the opportunity to bring GTFO to Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch, but the size of its team means that extras and additions are a “matter of time and prioritisation.” (via DualShockers).

You know that big rock what killed the dinosaurs? It left an enormous crater in the earth and scientists have been researching the geological chemistry of the impact site. Opportunists break into the underground research complex to steal artefacts, but they’ve bitten off more than they can chew. The tunnels and chambers are overrun with unearthly creatures who aren’t very welcoming at all. In GTFO, players will cooperate in teams of four scavengers to… GTFO and, “work to unearth the answers about your past and how to escape.”

We got our first glimpse of gameplay at The Game Awards 2017, and now, GTFO has taken its first steps on Steam Early Access. In an interview with DualShockers, 10 Chambers Collective was able to shed a little light on how the project is going and what’s next on the agenda. Expectedly, Early Access was a strategic move to discover what works well and what could be improved in the game, and to better understand its audience. With regards to the possibility of a multiplatform release, the developer would be very happy to explore that, as, “the more platforms the game would be available on the more people could probably play it.”

Nevertheless, 10 Chambers Collective is comprised of a small handful of developers. Co-founder Svante Vinternatt said, “doing several platforms at the same time with this kind of team will be really tough,” which is understandable. The priorities are to refine GTFO’s PC version before work begins on ports, but new features could be suggested during its Early Access stage. Accessibility options are something the developer is considering, too. “I know we need to make a decision as a team, but absolutely. I don’t see why not. It’s just a matter of time and prioritisation at the moment,” said Vinternatt. It seems like GTFO will be playable for colourblind people as one of the team members has the same disability: “if it works for him, I guess it works for other people that are colourblind as well.”

There is an ability to ping loot and entryways, and Vinternatt was asked if this would be expanded upon to reduce reliance on voice communications. “We tried having everything pingable in GTFO but then people just started moving towards the pings and stopped communicating that much. We felt like that kind of ruined some of that experience,” he answered. However, it does sound like the developer will be bearing accessibility in mind while the game transitions through Early Access, which is positive news.
