Grand Theft Auto 6 is the most-highly anticipated game of all time. It now has a release date of May 26th, 2026, and the Take-Two CEO has reassured fans worried about another delay that when “Rockstar set a specific date, that ends up being the date”. We absolutely cannot wait for the game to come out as it looks incredible. There have been a boatload of leaks in the past, and, while nothing is guaranteed, a previously accurate leaker now claims GTA 6 has scrapped a dynamic cover system and other features, while also surprisingly claiming players will be able to enter “700+ stores”.
GTA 6 leaker claims scrapped dynamic cover system, 700+ stores and more
There have been a host of leaks for GTA 6 in the past. These include a long list of features as well as even very early gameplay thanks to a hacker, resulting in a statement from Rockstar.
On X, GameRoll accurately leaked the full names of Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos before the release of GTA 6 trailer 2. This comes courtesy of thegamepost, who have shared more new leaks from the user via Discord.
Starting off with the exciting details, GameRoll reportedly claims “There are 700+ stores” players can enter, and that “Malls are functional”. The leaker also claims that players will be able to switch between Jason and Lucia similar to the method used in GTA 5, and that they are companions who you can explore the world with together or alone.
It’s also claimed that there will be male strippers, and that the story will take place over the course of five chapters. Of course, none of this official. Male strippers and exploring the open-world with Jason and Lucia together sounds obvious, but the inclusion of 700+ stores sounds far-fetched. It’ll be amazing if true, but that’s the claim that is hard to believe.
Now onto the disappointing, GameRoll also claims that there will be no dual-wielding, and that there won’t be house burglaries either. No house burglaries would be a shame as it was reportedly scrapped from GTA 5 due to time constraints, and it was not in GTA 4 after being part of San Andreas.
While no house burglaries and dual-wielding would be disappointing, the leaker further claims that Rockstar have scrapped a dynamic cover system as well as the ability to go prone. Basically, this means you won’t be able to go prone by laying flat on the floor and hiding underneath objects such as cars like Ellie in The Last of Us 2. Apparently, the cover system will instead be the more traditional type seen in previous GTAs and most recently RDR2. As for why dynamic cover has supposedly been scrapped, GameRoll claims it was “Apparently… complete a** so it’s good they cut it”.
According to GameRoll in comments shared on Reddit, the source of these leaks is the same who revealed the full names of Jason and Lucia. This doesn’t mean what’s stated is gospel, and fans must remember that none of these leaks are official nor were any of the alleged cut features confirmed by Rockstar.
In other GTA 6 news, Take-Two has said a PC release is “much more” important than it used to be, but Rockstar can wait.
