GTA 5 doesn’t feature any female protagonists because of the role masculinity plays in the game’s story, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser has told The Guardian.
“The concept of being masculine was so key to this story,” Houser said.
The game’s story features Trevor, Michael and Franklin as playable characters, but GTA Online will allow female characters to be created.
GTA 5 launches September 17 for Xbox 360 and PS3. GTA Online will roll out two weeks later on October 1.
