Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto IV on PS3 and Xbox 360 – published in Japan by Capcom – has entered the Japanese video games chart at No.1 and No.7 respectively. The critically acclaimed action title sold 133,000 units on PS3 and 34,000 on Xbox 360.

Sony’s PS3 exclusive LittleBigPlanet didn’t get off to such a great start, with sales of 52,000 units only enough to place at No.3. Elsewhere Pokemon Platinum edges closer to total sales of two million units with a weekly total of 47,000.

While six Nintendo DS titles feature in the Japanese Top 10, you have to scan down to No.11 before you find the first Wii game – Wii Music. Following the phenomenal success of Wii Fit, Wii Play and Wii Sports, it looks like Nintendo’s Music title could be a relative failure in Japan. In three weeks the game has sold approximately 165,000 units.
