According to ChartTrack data obtained by MCV the GTA 4 battle between Xbox 360 and PS3 has been won by the Microsoft console, with 55% of all units sold on the Xbox.

Of the total 609,000 units sold on day one, 335,000 units were snapped up for the Xbox 360, beating the 266,000 units sold in by Halo 3 on September 26, 2007.

The game sold 274,000 units on PS3, easily beating the previous one day record of 80,000 units set by Gran Turismo 5: Prologue on March 28, 2008.

ChartTrack director Dorian Bloch told MCV that sales will only go up and that the “Bank Holiday weekend should be a particularly fruitful period”, so long as stock lasts.
