Take-Two Interactive announced last night that it has shipped over 13 million copies of Grand Theft Auto IV as of January 31, 2009. The figure does not reflect any potential boost to the game’s sales as a result of the release of The Lost and Damned DLC for Xbox 360.

The company also revealed sales of more than $256 million and a $50 million loss for its holiday quarter. Losses increased by $12.4 million over the same quarter in the previous year, with Take-Two citing higher marketing, legal fees and research and development costs as reasons for the increased loss.

Highlights for the quarter included GTA 4, Carnival Games, NBA 2K9 and Midnight Club: LA. 2K’s Carnival Games franchise continues to shift units, with the combined shipments of Carnival Games and Carnival Games MiniGolf having exceeded four million units worldwide.
