According to GeekPulp who have been chatting with Dave Hine and Paul Gunn of SCE New Zealand, Gran Turismo 5 Prologue has notched up pre-orders of one million units across Europe, reaching platinum status before it’s in stores or available on the PSN.

VideoGamer.com just got confirmation from Sony Computer Entertainment Europe that the figure is pretty much accurate.

“I can confirm that we currently have orders for almost 1 million units of GT5 Prologue across SCEE territories,” a SCE spokesperson told VideoGamer.com.

It’s also been confirmed that lifetime sales for the Gran Turismo franchise stand at more than 48 million units, with sales of GT5 Prologue likely to lift the franchise over the 50 million milestone.

GT5 Prologue will be released via the PSN on March 27, with the Blu-ray retail release available a day later.
