PC users are struggling with Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition, after Rockstar took down their launcher just hours after the games launched.

As noted by PC Gamer, shortly after the release yesterday, Rockstar took down the launcher yesterday at around 7pm UK time. This meant players who had purchased the game on PC were unable to access the game or any other Rockstar game that used the service. This included titles such as Red Dead Redemption 2 and Grand Theft Auto: Online on the platform.

Worse still, Rockstar didn’t give much of a reason for this, and the launcher still remains down at the time of writing more than 20 hours later. A tweet from the company simply read: “Services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles are temporarily offline for maintenance. Services will return as soon as maintenance is completed.”

An update arrived at 10am UK time this morning, but didn’t shine any further light. “We thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to work on restoring services for the Rockstar Games Launcher and supported titles.”

In the meantime, it seems some players have been able to access the games via Offline mode, although Red Dead Online and Grand Theft Auto still remain down as of 5:20pm according to the Rockstar support site.

There’s no word when frustrated PC gamers can expect the games and the services back online. Hopefully, it won’t be too long, but it’s certainly not the best of starts for the collection. Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition is also available on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch.
