Polyphony Digital boss Kazunori Yamauchi has said his studio is aiming to make Gran Turismo 6 “state of the art”.

As reported by Japanese site Game WatchYamauchi appeared at this week’s China Joy event in Beijing. There he revealed that he’s been working on the framework for Gran Turismo 6 ever since the completion of the last game, adding the at the goal is to make the new racer “state of the art”.

“We’re always aiming for the latest technology and the latest expression,” he added.

Yamauchi was also quizzed about the possibility of Gran Turismo appearing on Vita:

“If we were to make it, we’d like to make use of the ability to play anywhere and the ability to use 3G at any time,” he replied.

If you’re a Gran Turismo fan, be sure to check out Jeff Dunn’s cautionary feature about his experiences with the last game – I platinumed Gran Turismo 5 – but at what cost?
