The latest issue of Game Informer magazine spills the beans on two more characters for Mortal Kombat – Goro and Jade.

Wikipedia dutifully informs me that Goro is a “2,000 year old half human-dragon” and “remained champion [of Mortal Kombat] for nine consecutive tournaments, until he was defeated in the first game by Liu Kang.” But we all knew that already.

Jade, however, “once served as Shao Kahn’s personal assassin along with Kitana and Mileena. During Shao Kahn’s invasion, Jade was ordered by Kahn to capture Kitana but turned against him to side with her friend and the Earth warriors.”

Other than Goro and Jade, sixteen other characters have been confirmed: Cyrax, Ermac, Jax, Johnny Cage, Kitana, Kung Lao, Mileena, Nightwolf, Raiden, Reptile, Scorpion, Sektor, Shao Kahn, Sindel, Sonya and Sub-Zero.

A screenshot of the character select screen shows room for 26 characters.

There’s still no confirmation of a firm release date, although Warner has narrowed the launch down to April 2011.
