Sony has confirmed that God of War Ragnarök, its upcoming action-adventure sequel, will be out on November 9th. This puts to bed a number of rumours that have been rumbling around the game’s possible delay.

In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Grace Orlady, the senior community manager at Santa Monica Studio, said:

“God of War Ragnarök is officially coming to PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 on November 9, 2022! We’re thrilled be able to share our release date and the brand-new God of War Ragnarök – Father and Son CG Trailer with all the God of War fans who have been eagerly awaiting news.”

Check out the trailer below:

The description reads:

“Join Kratos and Atreus on a mythic journey for answers before the prophesied battle that will end the world. All the while, the eyes of Asgard watch their every move.”

As you can see, that’s a pretty big wolf at the end, there. God of War (2018) had a pretty big snake, and the new game has a pretty big wolf. They are clearly carrying on the theme.

The first game in the softly rebooted run, God of War, went down very well. In VideoGamer’s review of that game, Alice Bell said:

“It plays easy because it was made hard, and the result is undoubtedly the coolest and most interesting God of War game to date. And yet the ending itself, while it closes one avenue for Kratos & Son, just hands you a bunch of new plot threads. It doesn’t feel like an ending as much as it feels like a mid-season break.”
