Speaking recently with Entertainment Weekly, Jaffe confirmed that the David Self penned script has been completed. Self has a number of critically acclaimed projects to his name including Road to Perdition and Thirteen Days.
Despite having a completed script, Jaffe is still aware that the project could be canned at any moment, noting: “I keep expecting them to call me and say it’s dead, but my fingers are crossed.“
Jaffe says that the next step is to get the script sent out to a “huge-name director” although doesn’t mention who. He was more willing to name an actor he feels would make a great Kratos.
“[Blood Diamond’s] Djimon Hounsou as Kratos. Absolutely. You have to get past the fact that Kratos is Greek, but in terms of the way he looks and his acting ability and his physique †I can’t think of a better choice,” he said.
God of War 2 on PlayStation 2 is scheduled for release in Europe in April.
