God of War 3’s creative director Stig Asmussen has left Sony Santa Monica, SCEA has confirmed.
His departure follows layoffs at the studio last month which saw an undisclosed number of employees let go and a major project cancelled.
Asmussen joined Sony Santa Monica in 2003, going on to work on the art side of God of War and God of War 2 and finally as creative director on God of War 3.
He is also believed to have been a key member behind Santa Monica’s cancelled new IP. It isn’t clear whether Asmusson resigned from the studio or was made redundant.
IGN reports that Asmusson is currently “interviewing at several studios”.
Sony Santa Monica’s next title has yet to be announced.
