Bandai Namco has announced that it’ll be bringing its cooperative Action RPG God Eater 3 to the West. So far the game has only been confirmed for the Americas, and it’s likely that a European announcement will follow. Players will once again team up with fellow God Eaters, each equipped with the latest God Arc weapons, to take down monstrous Aragami who are causing chaos around the world. Judging by the rather explosive trailer the Aragami certainly aren’t of the cuddly variety, and they seem pretty intent on the whole destruction of mankind thing.

God Eater 3 will be introducing completely new Aragami to the game. Each of these terrifying beasts has one aim and that’s to devour and destroy everything. Naturally, this situation requires the talents of an elite group, known as God Eaters, to save mankind. God Eaters are a bunch of individuals who happen to be rather adept in combat and they’ve been given access to the fabled God Arc, the only weaponry known to combat these beasties. To be fair, the name God Arc sounds like a biblical weapon capable of immense destruction, so it’ll do the job nicely.

The God Eater series is very similar to the Monster Hunter franchise, with caveats. Unlike Monster Hunter’s fantasy setting, God Eater depicts the battle between humanity and monsters in a futuristic post-apocalyptic world. So apart from the gameplay being basically the same they’re not that similar at all… honest. The God Eater series is a fairly popular franchise, with five games released so far, a few manga novels, and even an anime adaptation. The most recent game was God Eater 2: Rage Burst which came out in 2016 on PS4 to mixed reviews.

Currently there isn’t a confirmed release date for the game, nor has Bandai Namco confirmed which platforms the game is coming to, but I’m sure we’ll hear more about God Eater 3 in the not too distant future. In the meantime feast your eyes on the trailer.
