Retro-themed side scrolling smash-em-up Gigapocalypse arrives on consoles this June, publisher Headup Games has announced.

The game sees you play as a giant Kaiju-like monster or ‘Giga’ to wreck havoc across a number of cities. You’ll have a roster of nine different monsters to pick from, each with their own abilities and powers across three categories. You’ve got ‘Old Gods’, three from prehistoric times and three space-themed horrors to pick from.

Of course you’ll get to customise these beasts how you see fit, including mutations, skins & even minions of their own. Between these rampages of destruction, you’ll also get to improve the stats of your Giga via minigames. And just like any good virtual pet, they even have their own lairs and homes you can decorate with cool items that also improve your Giga’s stats.

Expect a weird and wacky collection of enemies and cities to rampage through, across several timelines. These include cowboys in the Wild West, the Knights Templar in Medieval times, and plenty more. Each level is also punctuated by epic boss fights, requiring all of your smashing skills to take down.
