The Iceland men’s national team, which sent England crashing out of this summer’s European championship, won’t be available in FIFA 17 after the nation’s football association (KSI) turned down EA’s ‘unfair’ offer of $15,000, reports the BBC.
“They are the ones buying these rights and they almost want it for free,” said KSI president Geir Thorsteinsson.
“The performance at the Euros show that we are quite a good team and many would like to play with our team. It’s sad for the players – but the criticism should be towards EA Sports.”
Thorsteinsson added: “I didn’t feel that this was done in a fair and open manner.”
Iceland is now ranked 27th in the world and has never featured in a FIFA game. 47 other men’s international sides are featured, including India with a world ranking of 148.
You can currently pre-order a new Xbox One S with FIFA 17 for only £199, or pick up the game for just £37.
