Illfonic has announced that its next asymmetrical multiplayer offering Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed will arrive on October 18.

In a press release sent to IGN, the developer revealed that pre-ordering the game digitally allows players some bonus goodies. Namely, advanced access to Slimer, a custom Particle Thrower and Proton Pack and special cosmetics.

The team has also declared that it’ll be a holding a dev stream this evening, giving players a peek at some live gameplay from the title. That’ll take place on the Illfonic Twitch channel at 7:15pm UK time.

The existence of a brand new Ghostbusters game was first let slip late last year by actor Ernie Hudson. Known for his portrayal of Winston, he revealed that he and Dan Ackroyd (Ray Stantz) had been in the studio recording dialogue.

Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed was then formally revealed in March. It’s set after all the movies so far, including recent release Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Expect plenty of nods to the series for fans then.

As with the studio’s other film-based games like Predator: Hunting Grounds, the title will be a four on one affair. Four of the players will be Ghostbusters and they’ll go up against one other human player as the Ghost.

The Ghostbusters will have to use teamwork and their gadgets to hunt down and capture the ghost. The Ghost player meanwhile, has a bunch of supernatural powers to try and evade capture.
