Ubisoft has announced that their much anticipated Xbox 360 title Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter is now set for a worldwide February 2006 release. The delay is said to allow “Ubisoft to offer gamers the best episode ever of the award-winning Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon franchise and will enable the game’s development teams to optimize the application of Xbox 360 technology.”

Advanced Warfighter was playable at this week’s X05 event in Amsterdam and was met with a good response from attendees, despite reports that the game didn’t match early videos released for the game.

In Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter, players will be able to truly immerse themselves as soldiers of the future,” said Tony Kee, vice president of marketing at Ubisoft North America. “This game will continue the tradition of setting the bar for intense multiplayer action and cutting-edge technology. X05 attendees experienced the stunning results of the work Ubisoft’s award-winning studios have done in perfecting innovative multiplayer content and taking advantage of next-generation capabilities.”

While the delay might disappoint fans hoping to pick the game up at the Xbox 360’s launch, it should ensure that it’s released with the same high quality as previous games in the series.
