A popular perk in Modern Warfare 2 (MW2) has come under fire from fans thanks to what appears to be a curious change to how it works in the latest game.
The Ghost Perk has been something of a mainstay for the series, featuring in many of the outings. Its usual purpose is to hide players from the minimap when scanned by UAVs and similar equipment/killstreaks.

However, the perks system has had a rather significant overhaul in the latest game, with many long-time perks getting changes or tweaks to how they work. It seems that Ghost isn’t immune from this, and the changes haven’t gone down too well with the MW2 community.
As streamer JackFrags notes in a Twitter video, it seems that even if you have Ghost equipped, you can still show up on an opponent’s minimap if you shoot your gun, albeit briefly.
Many threads on Reddit have popped up decrying the change – claiming also that the same behaviour even occurs if using a suppressor on your weapon.
The change does seem odd – enough that users have questioned Infinity Ward to enquire if this is intentional behaviour or a bug, but there’s not been much response from the developer just yet.
The issue also isn’t mentioned on the game’s Trello board, which claims to be tracking the biggest issues according to the team.
For now then, players will have to wait and see if any changes are made to the Ghost perk. In the meantime, why not check out our list of all the Perks in Modern Warfare 2 so far.
