It’s not long now until the biggest release of the summer, Yakuza Kiwami, comes out on August 29. Maybe just for me, then? Sega is making sure that people are tempted to dive in from the get go by offering some free post-launch DLC, which will be released on a weekly basis throughout September. But to get this free stuff, you’ll have to go and visit a clown, and we all know clowns are creepy buggers.

The weekly content doesn’t add content that affects the actual experience, it’s pretty much cosmetic content and some consumables which will probably be quite useful. Each week, Yakuza Kiwami will receive an update and the player will have to stop by the Tenkaichi Street Gate to retrieve these items from Bob Utsunomiya, the creepy aforementioned clown.

On September 5, Bob the Clown will be giving away the Kiwami Fun Pack, which comes with a dragon tattoo for that iconic topless Kiryu look, a modified model gun, a gold plate and some consumables. The Kiwami Street Pack comes out on Sept. 12, with a prison outfit for Kiryu and the Stone of Enduring, which protects against a critical attack. The Kiwami Fun Pack 2 follows on Sept. 19, with a black suit, and the Marlin Cannon, which is a handheld cannon, because that’s a thing. Finally on September 26, there will be a Snake Skin Jacket for Majima, some pocket circuit parts and a one-time use Sacrifice Stone that’ll protect against death.

Yakuza Kiwami is a PS4 remake of the first game in the Yakuza series. Following on from the excellent Yakuza 0, Kiwami could finally be the title that gives the series the commercial success it’s long deserved. Being a remake of the first game in the series, Yakuza Kiwami is the ideal starting point for those yet to experience the over-the-top take on Japan, with hugely detailed worlds and smatterings of self-aware comedy.

Yakuza Kiwami is out on August 29 for PS4.
