PS4 owners in Germany can only use Share Play with other German PSN account holders, it’s been revealed.
The restriction is thought to be linked to strict German laws that have seen multiple violent video games banned or censored in the country.
German players wishing to use Share Play to try a 16+ rated title must also input a German ID number before joining the host’s Share Play session.
The stipulation was revealed in a new FAQ on Sony’s website, which also confirmed that Share Play cannot be used if the game you wish to share is not available in the PS Store of the guest’s country or if the guest’s age is below the age rating indicated on the PS Store.
Share Play was introduced to PS4 last week as part of the console’s latest system update and lets users invite friends to play their game remotely – even if their friend doesn’t own it.
