Epic has outlined some of its intentions for the upcoming barrage of Gears of War 3 DLC.

“We have some DLC that’s coming up,” said Epic design director Cliff Bleszinski in an interview with The Telegraph. “We’ve confirmed we’ll be doing campaign DLC. One thing I can tell you is that you’re not going to see Marcus or Dom or Cole in it.”

What does that mean, exactly? DLC where you play as the Locust, perhaps, or maybe other characters from the Gears of War 3 campaign – such as Sam and Jace?

Bleszinski also made clear his views on what makes good DLC. “I believe that DLC should be unique and cool, like Lost and the Damned, Gay Tony, Mad Moxie’s [sic] Underdome Riot. All those kind of things. DLC’s the place where you play and have fun. So that’s one thing that’s an indication of where things may be going in the future.”

Microsoft and Epic are currently flogging the Gears of War 3 season pass for 2400 points, allowing customers to pre-purchase the first four DLC packs for a 33% discount on buying them individually.

Specifics on the contents of the DLC packs have yet to be announced, but the first will be released in November.

VideoGamer.com awarded the game a respectable 9/10 in its Gears of War 3 review.
