The Coalition has announced that Gears 5 Ultimate Edition players will be compensated for the problematic early access launch, with five days of XP boost and 600 Scrap.
Over the weekend, Gears 5 was plagued with significant server issues. All multiplayer modes were afflicted with extended matchmaking times and continual disconnection, kicking players and affecting displays. It even caused problems with the single-player Campaign, so those who had waited so long for the highly-anticipated installment, well, waited longer than planned.
As a token of our appreciation for your patience and support during this weekend’s Early Access, we’re awarding 5 days of Boost (Faster progression) and 600 scrap (Craft Skills or Supply cards). Look out for it in the next 48 hours.

As an apology for these launch issues, The Coalition is giving all players five days of XP boost and 600 Scrap. Scrap is how players craft skill cards, and as the disconnections meant that matches were never properly ‘finished’, players skipped out on hard earned Scrap. Gears 5 Ultimate Edition players will receive the gift soon, and thankfully The Coalition has sorted the issues surrounding the servers.
Colm played Gears 5, and decided that this cog has not had its day; it ‘embraces what’s come before and expands on it: bigger, longer, and Gearsier.’ Colm and Josh chatted about it and all the bells and whistles that makes the latest game so great.
