In a tweet earlier today Cliff Bleszinski has said the team was “drunk on scripted moments” while developing Gears of War 2.

The game designer described the Gears of War sequel, stating “I feel that the campaign encounters in Gears 2 could have been a bit better; as we were drunk on scripted moments.”

Additionally Bleszinski characterised the upcoming Gears of War 3 as having “crunchy fights,” explaining “A crunchy fight is one that makes your hands sweat. Sometimes you don’t pass it on the first try and try multiple strategies.”

Gears of War 3 is set for release on September 20 exclusively on Xbox 360.

Classic Bleszinski. He also uses Halo’s combat as an example of what crunchy actually means so that might potentially give you an idea of what to expect.
