Kotaku sources have claimed that development of Duke Nukem Forever continues, though, not at 3D Realms but Borderlands studio Gearbox Software.
Duke Nukem Forever has been in development limbo since 2009, but it’s rumoured that Gearbox has taken over where 3D Realms left off. Take-Two has confirmed it maintains the publishing rights, though it wouldn’t comment on the status of the project.
Gearbox Software president Randy Pitchford also declined to comment, but Kotaku suggests he’ll be able to say more at PAX next month.
A source also indicated that a playable demo will be available later this year.
