The release of Gauntlet, a modernised reboot of the classic dungeon crawler, has been pushed back from September 3 to September 23, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has announced.

Warner states that the “additional time was needed to fine-tune details in order to bring gamers an even more robust multiplayer experience”.

Developed by Arrowhead Game Studios, Gauntlet promises to innovate on past titles while staying true to the brand’s legendary dungeon-crawler format. Players select from four classic fantasy-based characters: Warrior, Wizard, Valkyrie, or Elf.

Fans who have pre-ordered the game will receive a special in-game bonus: The Spawn of Kerthull, a special Wizard’s Robe made from dead imps, who are children of the greater demon, Kerthull.

A Steam OS and Steam Machines version is planned for release in 2015.
