1up has revealed the first information on Gas Powered Games’ new PC title Demigod. Described as a hybrid of the action, RPG and RTS genres, Demigod is inspired by the popular Warcraft III mod Defense of the Ancients.

What this means for gameplay is two teams, each attempting to destroy the other’s base. Where this differs from usual RTS fare is through the control of singe Hero units, each with different powers, rather than unit management and resource gathering which is a staple for the genre.

In Demigod players will take control of many demigod heroes. Some of these heroes can survive through the use of their own powers or strength, while others will need to build smaller units and structures for support.

The game’s primarily a multiplayer experience with a particular emphasis on co-op, and while there will be a single-player mode this will be little more than a “training ground” for the multiplayer element.

A full reveal of Demigod will be featured in the upcoming February issue of Games for Windows: The Official Magazine, out soon in the US. Expect plenty more info to be plastered over the internet once the magazine arrives in the hands of subscribers.
